Xbox 360 Best-Selling Console For 20 Months Straight

Fanboys beware – the Xbox 360 is officially the best-selling console in America, and has been for 20 consecutive months. The system sold 203,000 units in July, even though the total hardware sales were down 32 percent compared to last year.

Apparently the only platform to actually increase in units sold was the 3DS… But that kinda seems like cheating, since it’s the newest. Anita Frazier, NPD analyst, said: “Both the DS and the 3DS, however, realized a month-over-month unit sales increase over June 2012 while the other platforms declined.”

32 percent is a pretty solid decline, so it looks like it really is about time Microsoft and Sony announced their new consoles.

Total revenue from retail games, accessories and consoles last month was down 20 percent compared to last year, too. We’re bored with sequels!
