Top 5 GBA Ambassador Games

Those that bought a 3DS before the massive price cut were treated to ten GBA ambassador games as a special ‘thank you’ from Nintendo. And we have to admit, it isn’t a bad collection of GBA games they offered either. No, in fact, we have some of the finest games to grace the handheld during its distinguished years – but which ones are the best of the bunch?
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
Sacred Stones is arguably one of the best Fire Emblem games. Commanding a group of mercenaries around a grid-based map might not sound exciting, but the game quickly becomes compulsive. Fancy some turn-based strategic-excellence? Look no further than this gem.

Metroid Fusion
Perhaps the closest thing we have to Nintendo’s take on the Alien franchise, Fusion is still an utterly absorbing game after all these years. We can’t stress enough how engrossing it is, whether it’s the excellent soundtrack, the polished exploration, or the desire to upgrade Samus’ abilities. Headphones in, lights off.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
Nintendo handed Zelda over to Capcom with Minish Cap. But luckily this wasn’t a cause for concern, as the game turned out to be a commendable, innovative take on the legendary series. Link being shrunk to the size of an ant added new dimensions to the adventuring, and the game plays just as well as it did years ago.

Wario Land 4
Filled with charm, Wario Land 4 is a fine platformer for sure. Cartoony graphics and catchy music aside, the fourth game reminds us how Nintendo does platforming. The mad rush at the end of the stages is particularly heart racing, and the bosses are fantastic. Anti-hero Wario is as comic and lovable as ever in his many forms too.

Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3
Yoshi and Baby Mario team up in the classic SNES game that was ported to the GBA in 2002. It acted as the beginning chapter in the moustachioed-plumber’s glowing career. Excellent music, beautifully crafted worlds and some ace platforming make this another essential game which helped Yoshi become the much-loved character he is today.
