Bioware Talks The Old Republic Becoming “Free”

Gamestm recently caught up with the lead technical designer of Star Wars: The Old Republic Emmanuel Lusinchi to talk over the aggressive MMO marketplace, and what Bioware is considering doing to introduce more players to The Old Republic.

Star Wars: The Old Republic released in late 2011, since then the futuristic space MMO lost 400,000 subscribers.

“The MMO market is very dynamic and we need to be dynamic as well,” he says. “Unless people are happy with what they have, they are constantly demanding updates, new modes and situations. So we are looking at free-to-play but I can’t tell you in much detail. We have to be flexible and adapt to what is going on.”

The Old Republic has had a tough time keeping its subscribers, it seems at this point then, we might just get a “free” MMO; even if just for a short while.
