Assassin’s Creed turning into Mario?

Ubisoft has admitted that they want Assassin’s Creed to turn into a long standing franchise much like that of Nintendo’s Mario games.
It was made clear that Ubisoft believe that games released every year, with a new feature each time, are not any less special because of their yearly release schedule.
Alex Hutchinson spoke about the series stating, “Since when is something less amazing if you get a new one every year?
“If Breaking Bad was shown twice a week I’d watch it twice a week. If Radiohead put out an album every six months I’d gladly buy one every six months.”
Apparently, this is becoming a necessity and will ensure the success of future series’ and is something that gamers are all looking for.
“If people want these massive triple-A blockbusters, people will have to accept that we have to make our money back somehow,” he said. “It’s rare that you’ll make your money back on the first one. Assassin’s Creed 3 is a huge undertaking – we went back to basics on a number of things, including tech.”
But, as we’re seeing with our beloved Mario, won’t we quickly become tired of these games if they are released year on year?
Look at how the Call of Duty series is quickly becoming stale (IS STALE) and with the economy not sorting itself out any time soon; will gamers fork out their cash continually?
