3DS XL sells 200,000 copies in first two days

Despite receiving a fair amount of stick because of an absent charger and how it is no longer pocket-sized device anymore, the 3DS XL has shipped over 200,000 units in its first weekend on sale in Japan.

Comparatively, the 3DS sold fewer units in the same time period which sold around 100,000 units.

This start for the re-vamped console seems promising given that there has been a reported 19 million 3DS consoles sold worldwide, so wrestling money off existing owners may not be such a big deal as some may have first thought.

Launching at the same time as the console, New Super Mario Bros 2. has sold a reported 430,000 units in its first two days. Let’s be honest though, it’s a Mario title so its bound to sell bloody well. Let’s hope it’s a good Mario title too…
